The Power of Breath Work with Kirstin Svets // Sunday, May 5th @ 11 a.m.
Breath work can be used in your everyday life to improve your mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It is a stress and anxiety relief tool, as well as a confidence and creativity booster. Breath work helps regulate your nervous system so that you can be more present, calm and energized.
This hour long workshop will teach the why's and how's of different breath work practices, as well as move clients through stretches and breathing exercises that they can carry into their everyday life.

Say 👋 to Lauer! While Lauer just officially joined our SALT NS team last Spring, she has been a part of the SALT fam for quite some time. Before joining us, Lauer taught killer cycle and 30/30 classes at SALT NB.
After a lot of stalking, she finally brought her talents over to Kenilworth and we are all so glad she did! Lauer leads a tough class to fun music with warm, encouraging energy. When she's not selling houses left and right or working at SALT, you'll find her with sweet girls, husband and cute dog. We love having you as part of this team Lauer!!
1. What's your ideal morning?
Sitting in my backyard with my family and a good cup of coffee, followed by a bike ride to the farmers market or the lake. If I'm solo, it's a cup of coffee into a great workout at SALT!
2. What's your favorite playlist/ song/ artist at the moment?
If you've taken my class, you probably know I love Teddy Swims. He has a super soulful voice and covers just about every genre out there. I love his original music and his covers are unbelievable too.
3. Your go to healthy meal
We do a lot of different kinds of healthy bowl dinners--bbq or greek chicken, salmon teriyaki bowls, etc. It's a great way to sneak in some veggies and feel satisfied with big flavors and smaller portions.
4. Your guilty pleasure/ favorite way to unwind
Scrolling social media for pretty interior design ideas or checking out tips from my favorite food bloggers.

She quickly fell in love with barre, but also found out she had so much to learn!. Kathleen loves the combo of dance, yoga, pilates and how strong it makes her feel.
When she moved to the Northshore, she was so grateful SALT was in her backyard. Kathleen is grateful every time she steps foot in the studio for the kind clients, the great workout and the amazing team of instructors! No matter how she is feeling, Kathleen finds herself more relaxed and w/ a pep in her step after she leaves SALT.

Getting my supports in place for my day around structure is key to my mental health; cup of coffee, getting everyone out the door and then straight to SALT! Prepping myself for whatever comes my way!

Before teaching at SALT, Amy and her family lived in Colorado where she began teaching yoga. After moving home, Amy fell in love with the benefits of SALT's barre classes and began teaching in the NS studio. She believes the secret to feeling good is eating well and moving every day. Judging by Amy's infectious energy, and warm smile, it's working! 1. What's your ideal morning? I love to wake up early, get in a good sweat, and have some coffee before the morning rush begins. Things move much smoother on mornings like this!

3. Your go to healthy meal: My new go to salad is a summer must have: chopped romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado, corn off the cob, goat cheese, sesame sticks, with honey mustard dressing (Primal Kitchen makes a delicious dressing!).
4. Your guilty pleasure or fave way to unwind: Nothing better than cold beer after a long summer's day, watching the sun set!

Say 👋 to our instructor of the month, Bailey! Bailey grew up in Winnetka but now lives in Wilmette with her husband and three daughters. Before the girls were born, Bailey and her husband lived in NYC. Bailey fell in love with yoga there and did her 200 hour teacher training shortly before moving back to the North Shore. Her first yoga teaching job was at a little yoga studio in Highland Park called Healing Power.
In addition to teaching at Salt, she also works at North Shore Country Day School, teaching yoga and coaching a variety of sports. Outside of teaching fitness or coaching sports, Bailey just started gardening. She recently built a vegetable garden and is ready for warmer temps so she can start growing Kale for her salads!

My ideal morning would be waking up before my family does and enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. Then I would head to Salt to take an amazing class. After that I would go home and pack a cooler to spend the day at Gillson Beach with my family.
2. What is your favorite playlist/ song/ or artist at the moment
I love Chris Stapleton. I think he has the coolest voice. I am dying to see him in concert.
3. Your go to healthy meal
I crave grilled salmon with kale salad! My favorite salad has lemon juice, olive oil, serrano peppers, pecorino cheese and fresh mint grown from my garden. I eat this for dinner at least once a week and hopefully more!
4. Your guilty pleasure or fave way to unwind
Binge watching something on Netflix with a glass of Rose! In the summer I try to watch less TV and could sit outside for hours.

⭐️ Instructor of the Month ⭐️ Say 👋 to our very own LIZ O!! Liz lives in Wilmette with her husband and two teenage daughters. She was a dancer for about 20 years, hence that beautiful posture, and was thrilled to discover barre on the Northshore almost ten years ago. It was a perfect fit- challenging for mind and body. Liz started teaching at Salt 4 years ago and it brings her and ALL OF US so much joy! She loves to cook (have you seen her pretty plates during BBS!?) garden, nerd out over musicals and happens be an excellent parallel parker. Thank you, Green Bay Rd!

1. What’s your ideal morning ---Coffee with foamed oat milk and cinnamon, Twitter, and sitting on the couch with my dog, Charlotte
2. What is your favorite playlist/ song/ or artist at the moment Sooooo many! I love lots of different music! Brandi Carlile, Taylor, and Lizzo are probably in my most played right now. My teens help keep me up on the current 'bangers' too which we love to blast on the radio with the windows down.
3. Your go to healthy meal (high expectations here 🤣) We love salmon! We're currently on a kick of making baked salmon sushi bowls--marinated and then baked salmon, over rice, cucumbers, avocado, shredded carrots, and toasted nori and sesame seeds with a quick Asian inspired vinaigrette and siracha. Just had them last night!
4. Your guilty pleasure or fave way to unwind I love the Real Housewives of...sorry to say...every city! Total guilty pleasure show and NONE of my friends or family watch but I always want to recap with someone. Bravo fans, show yourselves!!

After becoming hooked as a SALT client, Jennifer Joyce talked Lindsay into doing the teacher training 5 years ago, and she's so grateful that she did! She absolutely loves teaching and being a part of this amazing SALT community and the community LOVES her right back. When she's not crushing everyone in the room in drop squats, she is on the mic delivering a killer class that will leaving you smiling. Lindsay lives in Wilmette with her husband, Dan, and four kids (Bo-8, Delaney-6, Mac-3, and Sadie-3).
1. My ideal morning is waking up at my family’s cabin in Wisconsin and going for a long run through the woods and country roads before spending the day on the lake with my kids. Starting my day with fresh air and movement always makes my heart happy ❤️…and makes me a nicer mom. 😉
2. I’m a country music girl, through & through! I’ve secretly always wanted to teach a country music themed barre class, but I’m pretty sure no one would sign up. 😂 Hopefully I’ve tricked you all into thinking I listen to cool, popular music because I spend more time than I care to admit making my playlists for class!!
3. My go-to lunch is a massive salad 🥗 with whatever veggies I have in the fridge, leftover protein, pumpkin seeds & hemp hearts, olive oil/balsamic vinegar, and lots of EBTB seasoning (buy it in bulk from Thrive Market).
4. I’m a sugar addict 😬…so I can’t help but end my day with ice cream or chocolate. 🍫 Nutella is the way to my heart!

Say hi to Erin!!! Erin has been teaching at Salt for 8 years. She lives close to the studio in Kenilworth with her husband, three kids and new Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. She loves teaching and motivating clients and if you have taken her class you know she always brings the fun AND the best music 🎶 Thanks Erin for being the the most amazing team member and always giving us a good laugh, even when you are making us do burpees 💪🏼 💦 🤍
1. What's your ideal morning?
Ideal morning would be sleeping in and making waffles with my kids. Sneaking away for some "me" time at a Salt class.
2. What's your favorite song, artist/ playlist at the moment?
I love to listen to music and find songs that motivate me to teach with lots of energy. Anything from Sia, Rihanna, MIssy Elliot. Throw in a remix and you can do burpees for days.
3. What is your go to favorite meal?
My healthy meals would be soup in the winter or chilli. I've been trying out my new immersion blender.
4. Your guilty pleasure or favorite way to unwind?
Right now in the winter months I love a good pizza or italian meal with a nice glass of red.
